The Royal Free Charity supports staff and patients across the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust. From small acts of kindness to huge investments in research, everything we do changes lives for the better. We support our hospitals to go further, faster – delivering impact locally and globally.

Story

In February our second son, Leo, made a surprise early entry into the world at 34 weeks and 5 days. Unfortunately he became seriously unwell soon after birth and required intensive care. The support we received from the staff at Barnet Hospital during one of the most difficult times of our lives was amazing. After weeks of the best care we could have asked for Leo was able to come home two days after his due date.

On September 7th we will be taking part in Action Challenge's Thames Bridges Trek, a 25km walk across 16 of London's bridges, to raise money for the maternity and neonatal services at Barnet Hospital both of which we are indebted to. Any contributions would be very much appreciated.

All funds raised will be split between the Maternity Ward Fund 336 and Starlight Neonatal Unit Fund 445 at Barnet Hospital.

The aim of the Royal Free Charity is to support patients every step of the way to make their experience the best it can be. For each patient that need is different. The Charity provides support through trained volunteers, additional equipment, improved environments and patient based research. The Royal Free London hospital sites include Barnet and Chase Farm Hospitals and includes specialist centres for rare diseases as well as general medical care.
