Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. I'm hoping to raise as much money as I can for the Armed forces charities Combat stress and Help for Heroes, they have actually been around for a long time now but their efforts have only recently come to light after recent conflicts our men and women have been involved in. I have personal experience of what they do and what they do works for most! I really want to do as much as I can to help fund their work (something I think should really be covered by the services but isn't)
On the 25th May I decided to have a walking holiday in Cornwall, after suffering a breakdown, I was nearly 19 stone, homeless and very depressed. It was whilst I was walking and healing I thought about how much I would like to help a charity that had helped me with the effects of Post traumatic stress disorder. So.....I am embarking on an epic adventure walking the entire coastline of Great Britain beginning and ending at Penzance to raise money for Combat Stress and Help for Heroes (bmycharity.com/RichardLong) and to raise awareness of PTSD and it's varied affects on people. The approximate distance is 11,000 miles as I want to visit as many islands as possible. My aim is to raise £11,000 (£1 for every mile I walk) so please help me in my challenge by donating whatever you can afford to these two brilliant charities.
I will update my page on a regular basis with stories and photographs of my journey and the people I will meet along the way.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
So please dig deep and donate as much as you can afford for this very special charity.
Ps. If any ex service personnel or any members of their family think they may need a little bit of help from Combat Stress, please visit their website or let me know and i'll put you in touch with them, it doesn't matter how long you have been out, most don't seek help until 10-15 years have gone by.
