Story
I am challenging myself this summer by cycling 4000 miles across America in aid of the John van Geest Cancer Research Centre. I have just completed a years placement for this Cancer Research Centre and can't think of a better send off than trying to raise a pound per mile to help them carry on their amazing work.
My trip is completely unsupported and I will carry everything I need with me to challenge myself further. I will have company for the first three weeks from my brother, but shall be going solo for the remaining 6 weeks!
This will be my biggest ever trip by bike and doing it solo will really be a test for me. But I am determined to complete it!
I chose the John van Geest Cancer Research Centre because I believe strongly in the research they are doing. The main aims of their work is making the diagnosis process more efficient and earlier. Also improving treatment through immunotherapy (the bodys natural ability to remove cancer). Having met all the scientists and had numerous trips around the labs, it is easy to see the passion that each scientist has about their research and how valuable the donations are.
Furthermore because the John van Geest Cancer Research Centre is supported by Nottingham Trent University (the university I also study at) 100% of all donations received go to the research as NTU cover all running costs.
I would really appreciate anything that you can give to this centres fantastic work. I will keep everyone up to date on my trip through:
