Story

I know what those of you who know me will be thinking "...but you're a Spinning Instructor, you do this for a living!" . That is of course true. But does that mean that I shouldn't give something back to a pastime which gives me enormous pleasure and also one which keeps me healthy. At the moment I am healthy, but cancer can strike anyone at any time. It really does not differentiate. This is a good and worthwhile cause.

In addition to the spinathon I also undertook a much harder challenge (even for me): this will be a 110 mile (175km) day ride (yes I know...still not taxing him so much). The event is called La Marmotte; it takes place in France and has along its route 4 of the most iconic climbs known to cycling man and woman. La Marmotte is widely accepted as being probably the hardest ride in existence for non professional riders...  Take a look: http://www.cyclosport.org/article.aspx?id=202&eventid=149  and here's a link for all of my German friends http://www.quaeldich.de/Tourentipps.pl?TippID=53 Believe me, this was an enormous challenge! In fact 9 hrs and 31 mins  (or to put it another way 7465 kilocalories) of challenge to be precise!

The charity I have chosen is one that is close to my heart (as I am an avid cylist) because I believe that what they are doing and the way they are doing it ACTUALLY, and ACTIVELY helps people.

To see the fantastic work they do and why I believe that they're such a worthy cause please look at http://www.cyclistsfc.org.uk/. Their aim is to:

  • Supply children and young adults affected by cancer with bikes and equipment.
  • Promote cycling as an appropriate activity for those undergoing and recovering from cancer treatments to aid both short and long term outcomes.
  • Provide support for cyclists who have been diagnosed with cancer and who wish to have contact with other survivors.

Surely that is worthy of a few of your hard earned £s, €s or $s so come on people, please dig deep!
