Story

3 Volunteer crew members to take part in Isle of Man End to End Walk

Walking the 39.22 mile course from the Point of Ayre to The Sound for the RNLI - Royal National Lifeboat Institution, because we understand what funds are needed to keep this vital emergency service operational.

On Sunday 20th September 2020, three volunteer RNLI crewmen from Port St Mary Lifeboat on the Isle of Man, are going to take part in the Isle of Man End to End Walk. The walk starts at the Point of Ayre and follows a route down the west side of the island, through Bride, Kirk Michael, Peel & Glen Maye, before tackling the gruelling Dalby Mountain, and heading back down The Sloc, through our very own Port St Mary to the finish at the Sound. The walk is a total distance of 39.22 miles, has an elevation of almost 1200 feet, and has a time limit of 10 hours to complete it in.

Between them all Andy, Richard & Paul have a massive total of 69 years service to the RNLI, and during this time they have been on-call 24 hours a day, seven days a week, ready to respond to their pagers at a moments notice and have all been involved in call-outs which have saved many lives around the coast of the Isle of Man.

The RNLI is entirely funded by donations, and of course this year due to the global pandemic of COVID-19, the amount of donations received has fallen dramatically, due to not being able to hold the many fundraising events across the British Isles & Isle of Man. Yet throughout it all our crews still remain on-call 24/7. It is for this reason that Andy, Richard & Paul wish to take part in the End to End in order to raise as much money as they can, for this emergency service, which they all feel so passionate about, and which needs your support to provide the vital equipment required to keep Saving Lives At Sea.

Thank you for taking the time to visit this JustGiving page and for supporting Andy, Richard & Paul on their challenge!
