Our RNLI lifeboats in East of England protect hundreds of communities through our 24-hour search and rescue service. They rely on the safest, most reliable lifeboats and modern stations to launch from.

Story

Hitchin and District Branch of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution fundraises in the local area and particularly supports two of the most important lifeboat stations in the South and East of England - Cromer in Norfolk and Tower on the Thames in London.

We are an inland branch but are well aware that anyone from anywhere - not just commercial shipping - might at some time be in need of the RNLI search and rescue service or lifeguards when enjoying our seas and rivers.  Over the years the branch has raised thousands of pounds through street collections, stalls at various venues, events and collection boxes in shops, pubs etc to support the vital work of their mostly volunteer crews.

Now Covid-19 has curtailed most of activities throughout 2020 and the start of 2021 and we have been unable to fundraise as normal. We ask that you use our Just Giving page to help fund the maintenance of lifeboats and lifeboat stations as well as the supply of the highly specialised boots, helmets, gloves etc that are essential to the continuing running of this service which had its busiest year in 2020.
