Poppy's story:

Poppy absolutely loved swimming.  She blossomed from a little girl who refused to jump in the pool at Primary School, to a National Open Water swimmer.

In 2018, at a routine GP appointment, Poppy was referred to Chelsea and Westminster with the possibility of mild scoliosis.  Nobody could have been more shocked than us to hear the news that she had a 35 degree curvature of her spine and would now have to be treated at a specialist hospital.

After many appointments, and conflicting messages by consultants, we were lucky enough to be recommended by a friend to seek a second opinion at The Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital - No. 1 in the country for Popsy's condition.  We met our new consultant and couldn't have felt in safer hands.

Fast forward to 2021, there’s a global pandemic, the world is in crisis, and on March 26th our beautiful daughter had major surgery to rectify, by this stage, a nearly 60-degree curve of her spine.  We were blessed to have 2 incredible surgeons who performed a miracle in our eyes.  Pops had guts and determination in spades, she walked 24 hours after surgery, took everything that was thrown at her, and she was home in 6 days.

So, here we are in 2022 and Family Kreuzer have signed up for the Windsor Relay Triathlon in aid of RNOH, to raise money for the phenomenal NHS hospital that kept us safe.  Be under no illusion, Poppy hasn’t been able to participate in sport for 12 months, and I haven't run for 20 years, but Coach Kreuzer is keeping us on our toes - literally and figuratively.

This truly does mean the world to us.  Part of our inspiration is that Poppy's first consultant said she may never swim again... and she is.

We are raising money for an incredible hospital that gave Poppy her future 'back'.

Love and sparkles
