ROAR for Lions!

ROAR for Lions! · 23 June 2018
Join me, ROAR for Lions and support the Born Free Foundation in the amazing work they do to protect these beautiful, endangered animals.
You'll find details of my challenge below, but I just want to make you all aware that I'm currently undergoing treatment for a knee injury and have rescheduled this challenge for 2019 as a result. I'll keep you all posted with the dates as soon as they're finalised. Thank you all so much for your continued support!
In 2019, actor and Born Free patron Dan Richardson, will take on a challenge to climb a total of 20,000 feet for the 20,000 wild lions that remain in Africa today. The ROAR for Lions challenge will include Britain's three highest mountains - Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon - as well as mountains in Croatia, California and possibly even Africa!
Help achieve the £50,000 target by donating to this fundraiser, OR if you're feeling adventurous you can join one of the climbs and raise sponsorship yourself. Sponsorship forms can be downloaded right here from the Born Free website - http://www.bornfree.org.uk/fileadmin/user_upload/files/adminforms/SPONSOR_FORM_ROAR_FOR_LIONS_2018.pdf
If you are unable to join in with this challenge then why not take on a challenge of your own? Link your campaign to this one on Just Giving and all the funds raised collectively will contribute towards the grand total and help the Born Free Foundation to continue doing their crucial, life-saving work.
You can still help lions even if you can't donate. Share this Just Giving page and spread the message to ROAR for Lions! Take a photo or video of you, your family, your class mates, work colleagues, rugby team, choir, badminton club...and give us a ROAR! Use the hashtag #ROARforLions, share it on your social media, tag us in (info below) and we'll share it too.

Lions desperately need our help. Such an iconic animal, many people don't realise the true extent of the threats lions face today. Over the last two decades, Africa has lost over 40% of its lions and now as few as just 20,000 remain. They now occupy as little as 8% of their historic range.
The threats are diverse and the pressure on lions is immense and growing. Hunting grounds are being converted into agricultural land, with farmers using poisons, rifles and snares to remove predators from their land. Prey species have been depleted, populations have become fragmented, and in some countries, remarkably, it is still legal to shoot lions for ‘sport’.
Lions have already disappeared from at least 12, and possibly as many as 16, African countries. Africa without lions is simply unimaginable. The Born Free Foundation is taking effective action across the continent to protect wild lions and stop their captive exploitation.
The time to step up and ROAR for Lions is now! Please help us to save this species before it's too late.
