Story
Sue Ryder supports people through the most difficult times of their lives by providing invaluable palliative, neurological and bereavement support to people when they need it most.
As well as their 16 bed hospice, Sue Ryder provide a day hospice service to help people with long-term conditions. My Dad, Pete, has suffered with Parkinson's Disease for many years and his visits to the day hospice at Leckhampton Court have provided a vital reprieve for him and my family as a whole. I'm running the London Marathon to raise as much money as I can to give something back and thank Sue Ryder for their incredible support.
The care and support Sue Ryder provide is free but it costs Leckhampton Court £10,000 every single day to provide it. Every pound I can raise will help and here are a few examples of how the money I raise can help:
- £5 could provide a memory box for a bereaved child
- £19 could pay for one hour of expert care, helping people live the best life they possibly can
- £60 could provide an hour of bereavement counselling for someone strugglling with the loss of a loved one
- £140 could pay for a hospice nurse for a day
- £500 could pay for a bed for a day of inpatient care for a hospice patient.
I've started my training already and am aiming to run three or four times a week building up to twenty miles before the big day.
Thank you for your donation, it'll make a huge difference.
Rob
