My elderly parents live in a small village outside of Stoke-on-Trent. My dad has dementia and at times my mum has struggled to cope as his primary carer 24 hours a day. 

I am not always able to travel up to help and so my mum has often had to manage by herself in a small village with limited access to services. The North Staffs Carers group have been her lifeline and helped her through some difficult times with their support.

I have been hugely grateful for the help that the unpaid North Staff Carers Association have provided to my mum and in turn to my dad.They have provided hours of advice, telephone support, as well as being there in person on numerous occasions.

Not that many people may be aware of the work carers do, so I hope that my marathon raises awareness of this charity and also raises some valuable funds for this brilliant organisation, to help others in need.
