It has been 5 years since I last did any fund raising for Vista. Those of you who know me well will already know why this is such an important charity to my family.
My 6 year old son Max was born visually impaired. Bilateral congenital cataracts and micropthalmia (small eyes). Max also has a number of other issues that means he has additional needs which in turn means that everyday has the potential to be absolute carnage.
One constant over the last 6 years has been Vista. We received family support when Max was only a few months old. Throughout the operations and appointments, Paula the Vista family support officer was always available for advice and support which we are eternally grateful.
Over the last few years Max has really enjoyed the music therapy sessions and we have also been fortunate enough to go on family activity breaks with Vista where Max has been able to take part in things such as zip lining, sailing, canoeing, archery and horse riding. Things that I was never sure I'd be able to see him do.
It has given us the opportunity to meet some amazing people and develop friendships with other families with similar circumstances to our own. Vista also include Maxs little brother Leo in all of the activities and sessions too which he absolutely loves.
I will be taking part in the Winter Wolf run 10k at Stanford Hall. It is a challenging course with plenty of obstacles. And it will be cold, muddy and wet. If you can show some support with a donation that would be amazing. Every £ helps and if you even want to join me on the day, just let me know!
