Story
On April 20th/21st we will be taking part in the worlds longest continuous kayak marathon, the Devizes to Westminster. It is a brutal 125 miles taking up to 35 hours of non-stop paddling to complete. Paddy Ashdown who completed it as a young marine officer said afterwards he could think of only one other person who had a worst Easter Sunday! We are not completely mad and do hope to raise money for the charity Mercy Ships who do an incredible job working in some of the poorest countries in the world, delivering vital, free healthcare to people in desperate need. Please support us if you can. Thank you
The Devizes to Westminster International Canoe Marathon is a marathon canoe race in England. The race is held every Easter over a course of 125 miles (201 km) from Devizes in Wiltshire to Westminster in central London. It has been run since 1948. Starting at Devizes wharf, the route follows the Kennet and Avon canal for 54 miles to Reading, where it joins the Thames. Another 54 miles later it reaches Teddington Lock, ending 17 miles later at Westminster Bridge.
