Care of Police Survivors is a fantastic charity which provides essential support to families after the death of a serving police officer. Sadly they are often unexpected and deeply traumatic. The charity plays an essential role in providing bespoke support to help families rebuild their lives.

On Friday the 27th July 2018,  we will join colleagues to cycle 180 miles over primarily two days.On the third day we will cycle into the National Police memorial in Staffordshire for the annual remembrance service.  

We all have our reasons for wanting to undertake the ride. In my case last year,  I had the pleasure of meeting a number of  families that were being remembered. It was touching to know how much it meant to them to know the riders were honoring the memory of their loved ones. 

Whilst wishing the riders a safe ride the chair of the Leicestershire Police Federation asked if I fancied taking part the following year. In a moment of madness of course I said yes!

Twelve months on and six weeks to go the reality has struck home that training needs to be increased considerably. 

On hearing about the challenge, Leanne decided to join the team and commit to riding the route as she has an appreciation of the complexities and dangers that officers face on a daily basis. Her father died ten years ago and was a keen cyclist. On his death she inherited his bike but has never ridden it. She has decided to ride the route on his bike to add to the emotion of the event. 

Obviously its essential we raise some funds for the charity and ensure  the support is available going forward. We would be very grateful if you sponsor us and support this very worthy cause.
