My daughter Lucy has Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (ME) sometimes known as Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS).
It is a long-term (chronic) fluctuating illness that causes symptoms affecting many body systems, more commonly the nervous and immune systems.
M.E. affects an estimated 250,000 people in the UK, and around 17 million people worldwide, and yet it is little understood and research very poorly funded, leaving many with a poor quality of life. These are the ‘Millions Missing’ from society, too sick to stand up for themselves, missing Government funding, missing medical understanding and treatment, missing a cure!
Lucy is 18 and has had M.E. all her teenage years. Everyday she has to make decisions how she will spend her limited energy, and yet she is remarkably positive.
Andrew and I are running a 10k to support Lucy raise awareness of M.E. and raise funds to help Action for M.E. to help achieve their vision of ‘a world without ME’.
If you can, please help us, help those that can’t stand up for themselves.
Thank you.
