Now what can you do when you're stuck indoors as a challenge?!

Keep me ups?  I think I could manage 3

Press ups, I think I can do 60 - so I needed a challenge that's achievable but IS A CHALLENGE.

I've found myself holding my breath as I walk past people when I go to the shop or out for a walk, hoping that this might prevent me from catching the virus!  So I thought "I could try to hold my breath for 2.6 minutes"

It's worth telling you at this point that a breath-holding challenge, brought me the closest to death that I have ever been.

I was in Thailand in 2002, with the Scouts at a Jamboree.  We were acclimatising at a huge hotel for a couple of days before going on to the campsite.  They had an Olympic size swimming pool.  So I told the kids that I'd bet them I could swim a length underwater (think it was sweets for currency).  Of course, they all quickly had an attempt and I think the furthest someone got was just shy of halfway.  So they accepted my bet and I started hyperventilating.  This means taking quite a few big deep breaths, which oxygenates the blood and helps you hold your breath for longer.  Sadly, I was so determined not to show myself up, that I hyperventilated until black spots appeared before my eyes.

Happy that I was sufficiently "tanked up", I pushed off from the side underwater and started swimming.

That was the last thing I remember, until I was on the poolside, regaining consciousness!

It turns out I'd swum about 20 metres in 5 or 6 strokes, then I simply stopped swimming.  Fortunately, my little bet meant that I had quite an audience, so it wasn't long before someone realised something wasn't quite right.

Someone dived in and fished me out, laid me on the side and I simply took a breath (as I had been holding mine) and came round.

To say I was very, very lucky is an understatement and I now respect the act of breath-holding much more.  So I can promise you that I will do attempt this challenge safely!

I will do this live on Facebook on Sunday 26th April at 11am, submerged in a bath of water, so you can see that I'm not cheating.
