My life's passion is two fold: to 'find God'- not sure He’s lost - and to have Him found in me. Estimating this will be at minimum a 70 year project, I have thrown myself into two other complementary passions.

Firstly, Cheryl my wife who is by far the brains and beauty of our union, along with Rebecca, Hannah, Barnie our dog and Patch the cat. We are a normal family – that’s right, it all happens to us as well! These people fill me with hope.

Secondly, for almost 15 years I have been part of another great family, spending our days together at ’s Centre in . At a push you might call it work! Being part of a community of special people working through life, with our individual challenges, is not easy but the experience at ’s is tremendous fun.

What’s the money for?

Last year 20 adults with learning and physical disabilities enjoyed the pleasure of making something in wood or discovering the magic of the written word. There was another group of unemployed folk who we supported to push their personal dream of self employment further. Hundreds of people from broken and chaotic situations had their homes furnished for free.

One of the current aims of the charity is to renovate the old hall attached to St Paul's to create space for more of the above.

Why give money to such a charity? Because the charity makes a real tangible difference to identifiable people on a low budget. Because the staff and volunteer team work tirelessly to create an environment that is family, fun and fear-free. As a charity Christian Concern has a history of not spending money on fundraising; all the money you give will go to the Hall development.

Will you support?

A 970 mile unsupported, solo except 4 days, cycle ride from Land's End to John O'Groats.  Why cycle from Land's End to John O'Groats? Why the anticipated pain? I thought, loads of people have done it and do it every day. Then I asked around. No one in my family, no one where I work, no one at my church – I have no one in my life who has done it! So I thought this challenge in my little circle must be mine.

The biggest challenge is not a sore bum, aching legs, poor B&B -  not even the fear of not finishing. The challenge is to raise enough money to see ’s developing further.

Keep Smiling

Rob
