Story

Hi, we're both climbingMount Kilimanjaro in December 2009 to raise money for Help for Heroes.  The charity was set up initially to raise money for a new swimming pool in Headley Court, the military's rehabilitation centre for injured soldiers, sailors and airmen but thanks to its unprecedented success has continued to raise money for numerous good causes supporting the Armed Forces.

The charity has particular significance to us as Rob served for five years in the Army, including an Operational tour of Afghanistan and Bev played the equally difficult role of staying at home facing uncertainty and hearing the regular news reports about action overseas.  We both know people who have been seriously wounded or killed on Operations so want to do all we can to support this amazing charity.  We were successful in raising £1000 for Help for Heroes by completing a half marathon in 2008 and wanted to try and top that this year.

Our target for fundraising is £3000, we're covering the cost of the trip ourselves so every pound you give will go direct to the charity and not towards the administration or travel, we're also thankful to our employer, Aviva, who'll match our contributions pound for pound up to a defined limit.  We'd be really grateful if you could donate or if you could pass this on to someone who you feel would be interested in donating. Whilst we're not aiming for an amazing figure, we hope that we'll be doing our part to support those who put their lives on the line for us on a daily basis.
