Marathon des Sables · 17 March 2006
In April 2006, we will be competing in the Marathon des Sables. Dubbed the "toughest footrace on earth", the challenge is to run 150 miles (or five and a half marathons) in seven days, across the Moroccan Sahara Desert, in temperatures reaching up to 50°C, while carrying food, water, bedding, spare clothing and emergency equipment.
In competing in this event, we will be raising money for Kids for Kids and Facing Africa.
Kids for Kids sponsors long-term, self-sustainable projects in the war-torn Northern Darfur region of Western Sudan, helping people to help themselves and saving thousands of lives in the process: http://www.kidsforkids.org.uk
Facing Africa is an international charity concerned with the treatment and cure of Noma, an acute and ravaging gangrenous infection affecting the face, which kills around 450,000 children in sub-Sahara Africa each year: http://www.facingafrica.org/en/default.htm
This adventure is entirely self-funded so every last penny raised will go directly to these charities. We welcome any support which you may be able to provide to these incredibly worthwhile causes.

Thank you.
