For over 30 years, we’ve helped children and families find hope after a child is diagnosed with a serious illness. Today, the support we offer has never been needed more; from Isolation Packs to safely provide items to distract and delight children in hospital to hosting virtual parties to entertain and keep children connected with others. It could be a bottle of bubbles or a life changing experience; but it all comes down to helping kids carry on being kids.

This is due to one of the members having personal dealings with the chosen charity, so has seen the benefit of what they can do.

They had a nephew who had a condition called Cerebral Palsy.

Cerebral Palsy is a group of disorders that affect a person's ability to move and maintain balance and posture. CP is the most common motor disability in childhood.

Cerebral means having to do with the brain. Palsy means weakness or problems with using the muscles.

His Nephew had the worst kind, and whilst he is not here anymore, there was one thing to remember about him.

He smiled and he laughed daily and this was due to a collection of things.

1 – His family that loved and adored him.

2 – His school – He loved going to School

3 – Starlight charity – Starlight have supported his school, and him personally.

Starlight gave him a swing that cost in excess of what a typical standard swing would cost. The swing was specially adapted so he could have his wheel chair secured. He could have fun just like all the other children.

Starlight took him, and many others, on a trip to Lapland. He went with his friends to see Santa, enjoyed a sleigh ride, and met many friendly Huskies.

He had a great time that day, and it would not have been possible without Starlight.

However, this is not about just one child, this is about many children Starlight help to have fun.

Because of Starlight, Children just for a moment can forget their worries and have fun.

They can smile.

Because of Starlight, the family can forget and have fun just for that moment. They can smile.

Starlight use the power of play to make the experience of illness and treatment better for children and their families.
