At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding groundbreaking research.

Story

Once more, dear friends, into the saddle....In my 61st year I have after some CoVID-related faffing finally taken the plunge in order to take on another challenge and ride round my favourite place - the NW Highlands. From Sept 11-19th 2021 - after the midges have hopefully departed. Note: it was scheduled to happen in 2020 - but COVID 19 put paid to that!

Some of you may have donated previously and might feel like you might like to do it again as it almost a year later..or maybe not. I really dont mind.

I am doing this in loving memory of my Mum and Dad who were, in their different ways - afflicted by dementia in the last years of their lives. Its a cruel condition and anything we can do to improve the lives of sufferers and their families can only be a good thing. The Alzheimer’s Society is transforming the landscape of dementia forever. Until the day we find a cure, they hope to create a society where those affected by dementia are supported and accepted, able to live in their community without fear or prejudice. And I do it too in the knowledge that I have many friends and colleagues who have loved ones affected by dementia, not least my supervisor Tony Harris who introduced me to the joys of NW Scotland over 40 years ago.

So please help.
