Story
In March 2021 our son Josh, aged 19 was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma, he underwent below knee amputation surgery in June and 6 gruelling rounds of Chemo which finished in December 2021. He has also had 48 weeks of immunotherapy. He has learnt to walk again with his prosthetic leg over the last few months and is back at work, back at West Ham, following them to Lyon a few weeks ago.
Throughout his journey his determination, resilience and humour has pulled us and everyone around him along. I didn't cycle for quite a few months as just found the solitude while cycling made my mind work over time. But i started back a couple of months ago and then was offered a place on the Ride London by BCRT a few weeks ago, so i have had to really ramp up my training!
The ride is starting from London but is going out as far as Great Dunmow and Felsted so if you are at a loose end that day please come out and cheer me and my fellow cyclists on.
The Bone Cancer Research Trust is dedicated to saving lives & improving outcomes for people affected by primary bone cancer. Despite being small, they fund more research projects exploring primary bone cancer than any other organisation. Other large UK cancer research charities do not prioritise bone cancer patients, in 2019 just 0.028% of their research spend went to bone cancer – not even close to 1%!Last year alone, Bone Cancer Research Trust committed an incredible £807,824 to pioneering bone cancer research - to save lives!
