This year has been a  really difficult year for so many people suffering from mental illnesses including eating disorders. Our daughter has suffered from  the mental illness that is anorexia.  As for many others, it has changed her life,  affecting her mental health as well as her physical wellbeing. Unfortunately, this led to her being admitted to hospital in June but where she is continuing to receive really good care. 

We just want to highlight how serious eating disorders are and the impact they have on those affected. There is often very little focus on these type of mental illnesses and not a lot of awareness - to know they can often be hidden and to know how complex they are.

We turned to Beat for their help and found out about the great work  they do to raise the profile of eating disorders. We did not know where we could turn to get support and to find out more about this terrible disease, what we could do and who we could talk to. Beat were there.

I shall wear their charity vest with pride when I run the Great North Run with my wife this year and do everything we can to promote and support the good work that Beat do for so many sufferers. Families need their help.
