In 2015 my second son, Oliver, was born and was unexpectedly diagnosed with Down Syndrome. At this point I had no experience or knowledge of the services that were available out there until another parent sign posted us to School for Parents and since then we have never looked back.

Since starting his journey at School for Parents, Oliver's development has come on significantly. They have supported him in learning a range of skills from learning to pull himself to standing, self feeding and using a cup with a straw. School for Parent's has also given myself and Stacey the confidence to practice the techniques used at our sessions at home. On a daily basis we sing the songs with signs we have been taught and as a result, Oliver has engaged and begun signing back!

Oliver's development has not only been noticed by ourselves, but also by other educational and health agencies that are involved in Oliver's care. Due to the help, support and advice we have been given through School for Parents, I have decided to run four half marathons starting with Coventry on the 19th of march followed by Lichfield on the 7th of May, Ashbourne 2nd of July and finishing with the Robin Hood Half marathon on the 24th of September.

I hope that the money raised will help School for Parents to carry on doing the amazing job of supporting families!
