Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

In memory of my son, Noah, my father in law, Eugene, my pal Stephen Fitzpatrick and I are planning to run the Dublin marathon on October 29th 2012 to raise funds for the Fetal Medical Research Foundation.

We hope to follow in the footsteps of Maddie's brother, Jamie, who completed the Perth Marathon earlier this year and raised more than £2k in honour of his nephew. No pressure lads!

Any donation, no matter how small, would be very much appreciated and will enable this foundation to continue it's groundbreaking research and pioneering in utero treatments that afford babies like Noah a fighting chance at life.

For those unfamiliar with Noah's journey, Noah was diagnosed with severe left sided CDH (Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia) in utero. We travelled to Kings College Hospital, London, where we were under the care of Professor Kypros Nicolaides and his wonderful team at the Harris Birthright Centre. Maddie and I are eternally grateful for their expertise, care and relentless belief in Noah.

Professor Nicolaides, a globally renowned fetal medicine expert, performed two high risk in utero FETO procedures on Noah, inserting a tiny balloon inside Noah's trachea in the hope of stimulating lung growth. The FETO was successful and Noah's lungs were beginning to grow but sadly, Noah came too soon and there were just too many complications for our little fighter to take his first breath. Noah earned his wings in my arms on the day he was born.

Thanks a million in advance for your generosity.
