Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
In September somebody very close to me attempted to take
their own life. Thankfully they weren’t successful but it did make me realise two things;
- Someone close to you could be suffering, badly,
and you may have no idea until it’s too late.
- There are some amazing organisations out there
offering around the clock support to people who are having or have had suicidal
thoughts. However, they are quite often severely under-resourced.
As such, this month I will be attempting to complete two 5k
open water swimming events with the aim of raising $2,000 for Lifeline.
Lifeline is a national charity providing all Australians
experiencing a personal crisis with access to 24 hour crisis support and
suicide prevention services. They’re committed to empowering Australians to be
suicide-safe through connection, compassion and hope.
They’re vision is for an Australia free of suicide.
The two swims are;
- The ‘5 Beaches swim’ in Sydney which starts at
Coogee and ends at Bondi this Saturday 8th December
- The ‘Williamstown Open Water 5km Challenge’ in
Melbourne next Sunday 16th December
