Story
Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.
As some of you may be aware, I sadly lost my Mum to cancer last year following her courageous two year battle with the disease in a multitude of forms. Given her lifetime of work in the realm of not-for-profits and charities, I thought it would be a fitting tribute to take on the 2018 London Marathon in her honour.
I haven't taken this challenge lightly and have been training hard for the past 4 months, waking up at 5:30am to run to work whilst also doing my best to give up alcohol (with more mixed results).
The charity I will be supporting is Hospice in the Weald who provide vital palliative care for people suffering from terminal illnesses; administering nursing care and supporting families both practically and psychologically through very difficult times. In both my Mother and Grandmother's times of most need, they were there to support us, and taking on this challenge is my way of expressing gratitude for everything they have done.
I know most of you will receive numerous fundraising requests throughout the year, and I can also appreciate that these are easy to pass up on. I can assure you however that this will be the first and last time I ever run the marathon so I therefore ask you to dig deep, and support me in my efforts to give back to a charity that means a lot to me.
Much Love,
Robbie
