Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

More than 20 years ago I said that if I ever won the lottery, I would do something to ensure that homeless veterans never had to sleep on the streets.  I haven't had that winning ticket yet, but a few years ago I found out about Alabare Homes for Veterans Cymru who house homeless veterans in Wales and South West England, and I've been supporting them ever since. This is not a charity that sits on huge financial reserves.  Every year they have to raise around £2M to keep their services going.

Homes for Veterans Cymru runs 8 homes in Wales with more than 40 bed spaces, and is planning to open more.  They take in homeless ex service personnel from all 3 services for up to 2 years, help them get back on their feet, and help find permanent accommodation for them. Many of the residents have complex needs, but the H4V-C homes provide a supported environment where they are alongside others who understand what they have been through.

On 20 April 2022 I will be joining dozens of others sleeping out under the stars at Gwrych Castle in North Wales to remember those veterans who don't have a roof over their heads. The money I raise will go directly to support the homes in Wales.  Please give generously.
