Story

One day last summer the Mad Hatter of Chester suddenly decided to fundraise £1,000,100 for Brain Tumour Research, a sum that will pay for a whole year of the greatest minds to research brain tumours: the cost of a day’s research in one of the charity’s research centres of excellence being £2,740.

The Mad Hatter is reaching for the stars because those - especially but not only children and young people - who are diagnosed with brain tumours need the dial to shift quickly and for there to be a step change in treatments and, much sooner than later, cures for this type of cancer that can’t be prevented.

During August last year the Hatter cycled over 900 miles - the distance by road from John o’ Groats to Lands End- going round and round in circles.

Thanks to the kindness of many people over £5,400 was raised - two days’ worth of research, leaving only £994,600 to go.

With the continuing support of the ever growing Mad Hatter Collective, the Maddest of Hatters has now come up with most bonkers plan ever.

On the longest day - Saturday 20 June - he will cycle 200 miles from coast to coast from Whitley Bay to Ayr to fundraise the balance required - or at the very least another £2,740 to buy another day’s research at a centre of excellence.

He needs everyone’s help to do this so please consider sponsoring him to enable us to make a difference.

Over to you, Mad Hatter Collective, with some final words to inspire all you lovely crazy people

“We could be heroes, just for one day.”
