Story

I am cycling around the edges of the Stansted Archdeaconry in the Diocese of Chelmsford on Saturday 8th and Sunday 9th September as part of the Friends of Essex Churches 'Ride and Stride' sponsored bike ride.

On the first day, we will cycle from St Peter ad Vincula, Coggeshall to All Saints, Gt. Chesterford through the Rodings and along the border with Hertfordshire - 78.2 miles. Day 2 is the return journey via the northern and eastern borders of the Archdeaconry - 74.0 miles. In total, we will cycle 152.2 miles, climb 4,500 feet and visit 58 churches along the way. There is a map of the route below.

My thanks to Nick Ellis for doing all the map work and Steve Hasler for agreeing to accompany me and see that I get to the end.

Please feel free to join us along the way - and, if you do sponsor me, make sure you mention the name of your church when donating so that half the money comes back to your church.

About the charity

FOECT, founded in 1951, raises money to help preserve our heritage by the making of grants for the repair and restoration of Christian churches and chapels throughout Essex and East London. The annual Ride & Stride event is a major source of income.
