Virgin London Marathon 2013 · 21 April 2013 ·

Did you know there are over 20 million people in the UK living with a musculoskeletal condition? That’s about a third of the population. We help patients by raising funds for research to improve Orthopaedic treatment, restoring mobility and giving people back their freedom and independence.

Story

I am an Orthopaedic surgeon and deal with the effects of severe joint disease in adults and children.

Approximately 30% of consultations to GPs are for joint problems. All age groups are affected by serious bone and joint conditions from babies to the elderly.

I have a particular interest in childrens' joint conditions and have undertaken research into clubfoot, and serious hip conditions (dysplasia and dislocation of the hip).

I am 55 years old and only started marathon running in 2012 running in Manchester and Amsterdam.  This will be one of my only chances to run in London and to collect money for a good cause.

Bone and joint disease causes severe disability.  Money for research may improve treatment and the quality of life for thousands of people.

I would be grateful if you would consider donating to this charity.
