HMRC Trusts Ben Nevis Trek · 28 May 2009

We help the babies, children and young people treated at Scotland's largest children's hospital, the Royal Hospital for Children, Glasgow. We fund medical equipment, research, play programmes and family support services to ensure that our young patients receive the best possible care and experience.

Story

Myself and 5 colleagues trekked to the summit of recently to raise funds for the Yorkhill Children’s Foundation, after my sister spent seven weeks in Yorkhill to receive open heart surgery. Claire is doing fabulous and you’d never know what she went through!

Suited and booted, Team Nevis are ready to go at 06:30 in the morning!!! Don’t rely on a good night’s sleep in a Bunkhouse as campers who were not allowed to use the bunkhouse facilities decided they would anyway and woke us up at 5am, banging doors and generally being loud. Hence such an early start for Team Nevis.  Around 1,200ft up, the weather starts to turn for the worse…

We continued on, knowing our early start would beat the crowds! Marcus and I were further ahead of the others, so we checked out the ridge walk, but due to the bad weather we opted to do the tourist path with the others. Team makes it to the top a few hours later. Absolutely soaked to the bone with zero views due to the low lying cloud.

Wasting no time, we left the summit to get out the cloud and have some lunch.  We all got back to the bunkhouse for around 3pm.

Many Thanks to everyone for sponsoring us on this worthy cause! :)
