Dad lived 54 years of his life with Type 1 Diabetes and was a passionate advocate of funding research into better management of, and, ideally, into finding a cure for the illness. As a doctor not only did he have to live with the condition himself but he also treated a great many diabetic patients and, most recently, one of his six grandchildren has also been diagnosed with the Type 1 version of the illness.
