Story

Thanks for visiting my JustGiving page. I've signed up to take part in the 10 kilometre Wolf Run with some friends for support on Sunday 7th April 2013. The event organisers describe this event as:

'a unique combination of three kinds of off-road running: mud runs, trail runs and obstacle runs'...'it’s a hardcore 10k run across raw natural terrain, including open ground, woodland, lakes & thick mud.'

To complete this challenge I will have to tackle a series of seriously tough obstacles - both man-made and natural - designed to test my mental & physical strength, skill and stamina. I’ll run, climb, jump, wade, crawl and swim through a course designed to challenge me on every level.

It sounds fun doesn't it!! Now i've never been a particularly keen runner, and have never taken part in a normal running event, let alone something like this, so all the more reason to donate.

Why not take a look at their website to see what I am about to put myself through?! http://www.thewolfrun.com

So why donate? Well, as an animal keeper at The Living Rainforest I am part of a small team that continually strives to improve and upgrade our facilities for the benefit of both animals and visitors. One of our most popular species is the Goeldi's monkeys, and we are currently raising money so that we can refurbish their enclosure to provide a better exhibit for monkey and visitor alike. These primates are vulnerable in the wild, and so by playing our part in the European Endangered species Programme and providing visitor education, we can contribute to their conservation.

The Living Rainforest is a not for profit charity, and we rely entirely on donations for projects such as this. The money you donate will help us buy materials to build a fantastic new exhibit, which will be built entirely by staff and volunteers at The Living Rainforest.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for The Living Rainforest.

So please dig deep and donate now.
