Flora London Marathon 2008 · 13 April 2008 ·

For over 35 years, St Luke’s has been providing free of charge specialist palliative care and support for people in mid & south Cheshire living with life limiting illnesses. Our support begins from the moment someone is diagnosed, through to palliative care and end of life care.

Story

I'm Rob Wheeler. I am 57 years old and have been involved in charity work for many years, raising money for both St Luke's Hospice and Macmillan Nurses. However  now that I am retired, I have decided to get more involved.

To reach my target of £10,000 I needed to do something different, something that would push me to the limit, so I entered the London Marathon, and was accepted.  26.2 miles - everyone that knows me think I'm crazy (and so do I.)

I have never run a marathon, and being 57 and over 15 stone, it's going to be a tough test.

The marathon is on April 13th, so at least I have time to train.  My aim is to complete the race, and I have set myself a target of 5 hours, which is just over 5 miles per hour.

SO WHAT WILL GIVE ME THE INCENTIVE TO COMPLETE THE RACE?

Your contributions!

Any donations, large or small, will give me the incentive to complete the marathon and will raise money for St Luke's - a charity that touches everyone's life at some time.

If you prefer not to donate online, please email me at rob.wheeler@zen.co.uk or ring me on 01270 763645 or 07929 995886.

Thank you.
