LAA swim the channel · 6 September 2019

When patients in London suffer life-threatening injury, only our team can provide them with the help they need. With your support, we can perform complex procedures to save lives where others can’t. We can get there in time to make a difference and provide hope for the patient and their loved ones.

Story

Two teams from London's Air Ambulance will be swimming the English Channel in early September - each team of 6 swimmers will swim day and night an hour at a time from Dover to Calais.

Point to point its a 21 mile stretch of water but with tides and wind some swimmers have had to cover 65miles to reach French shores. Temperatures sit around 15 degrees centigrade (leisure pools are normally around 30!) and can drop down to 6C!

Rules decree that swimmers MUST wear speedos and no wetsuits are allowed.

Donations are kindly accepted as is wine and cheese the other end.
