Sooo .. IM BACK! 😜
Back raising funds for the BHF - something I absolutely love doing and love seeing the amazing work they are doing in heart research and raising awareness ❤️
I’m prepping for my 3rd Great North Run, thee best half marathon in my eyes and this prep does look slightly different the previous 2 times. This is because June 2022 saw me go through my 3rd open heart surgery.
The surgery was the Ross Procedure - a pioneering surgery which was deemed as the best option for me.
I was born with a congenital heart valve defect; and underwent my previous 2 operations in 2009 and 2014.
My most recent surgery was due to the bio prothetic valve I had beginning to fail and therefore the months the lead up the surgery seen me become quite poorly. I became more and more symptomatic, more tired, more lightheaded and more breathless until on the 28th May 2022, I was admitted to JCUH following a sudden cardiac arrest. Thankfully my partner had the confidence to perform CPR. I spent 10 days in JCUH before being transferred to the Freeman Hospital where had my surgery.
