Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
Rochester Cathedral has a ring of 10 bells that were cast in 1921. To ensure their future there are essential works that need to be carried out in order to keep the Cathedral bells ringing. We would like to combine this with adding extra bells.
The bells at Rochester Cathedral are very special, cast in 1921 by Gillett and Johnston as a complete ring of 10. However, they are also rather heavy, which makes training difficult as it restricts the bells that we can use for teaching. The addition of 3 lighter bells will make it easier for us to continue our work as a teaching tower encouraging young and old from all backgrounds to come and learn to ring. It would also give Rochester Cathedral the first ring of 12 bells in North Kent and better allow us to It will also encourage visiting ringers as the appeal of a ring of 12 is irresistible!
There are lots of ways to contribute from a small donation here to sponsoring a bell - we will be buying three new ones! Our overall target is around £100,000 so please find it in your heart to help us to maintain a long tradition of ringing in Rochester and to make the Cathedral bells a sound to be enjoyed for many years to come.
Thank you,
The Rochester Cathedral Company of Bell Ringers.
