Rockstar North to Rockstar Dundee · 11 October 2021

Edinburgh Children's Hospital Charity believes no child should face hospital alone. Every day, 500 seriously ill children face a life-changing hospital visit. Children tell us it can be frightening. Parents say they're sick with worry. We want to change this. With your support, we can. Are you in?

Story

On Monday 11th October, I'm going to run door to door from Rockstar North in Edinburgh to Rockstar Dundee in one continuous effort for the wonderful folks at Edinburgh Children's Hospital Charity.

The distance between the studios is ~
60miles / 96km. The optimal route would take me onto trunk roads so to make things a little more interesting, I’ll run up and over the Lomond Hill range taking the elevation gain to ~6000 ft.

Starting on October 12th 2020, I've been on an uninterrupted daily running streak, accumulating a total distance of more than 5000km, and will complete the full year with this run.

Before joining Rockstar North, I worked for Ruffian Games (now Rockstar Dundee) and spent the first 4 years of my time at Rockstar commuting between Dundee and Edinburgh - this feels like a nice way to revisit that time and connect the two studios.

This will be self-supported – I’ll carry the necessary food, drink and provisions I’ll need for the day with me in a back-pack. I'll set off at 6am and hope to arrive in Dundee for the end of the working day (weather / legs dependent).

During the pandemic, it's been inspiring to see so many people from Rockstar (and beyond) getting out for exercise, taking up running or cycling. This year, Rockstar and fellow employees have been supporting ECHC through
Lap the Map and Sick Kids Save Point - it's a fantastic charity doing amazing work for children and their families.
