Astro Fund - Norfolk Family Walk · 8 October 2011 ·

It raises funds to support low-grade brain cancer research at the most innovative neuro-oncology centres in the UK, raises awareness and offers support to those who are touched by this challenging tumour type via an informative website, online support groups and a popular closed facebook page

Story

This is my autumn triple challenge - plus a bonus race. The completed challenge was the Tonbridge Half Marathon; the Astro 10 Mile Family Walk; and The Emer Casey Memorial 10K at Herne Hill. The bonus race was the Norwich Half Marathon on November 27. I'm making a donation to Astro Fund but, of course, any other donations will be very welcome to help support brain tumour research. This effort, like all my other runs over recent years, has been inspired by my niece Gemma who fought her tumour so bravely until she died at only 29 years of age in November 2010. She was truly remarkable and a great inspiration.

Tonbridge Half Marathon: time 2h 33m 41s [place 747/820] a challenging course on a hot day. Astro Family Walk: 10 miles with warm people on a cold day! Emer Casey Memorial 10K: time 62m 48s [place 145/171] challenging race in memory of an young lady who, like Gemma, died tragically young. City of Norwich Half Marathon: time 2h 15m 57s [place 1899/2243]
