My Team and I are completing Challenges to raise money to support the St John of Jerusalem Eye Hospital. 

I am nearly 70 and have so far completed a more than five hundred kilometre solo pilgrimage from the great shrine of St James at Santiago di Compostella, Spain to that of Our Lady in Fatima, Portugal, others within the UK and a further Monopoly Board Challenge with the Team.

From 7th July 2026 I will be walking from the George at Southwark to Canterbury Cathedral, starting on July 7th. My Pilgrimage will follow the Thames Path towards Rochester, then pick up the North Downs Way to the Cathedral. As a true pilgrim I will walk without a back up team and sleep wherever I can along the way.

Chaucer wrote his classic tale of a pilgrimage 600 years ago, about a band of Pilgrims walking to the Shrine of St Thomas. This has inspired me to walk this pilgrim path.

Starting at the George (a four hundred year old inn) a short distance from Tower Bridge, he has an ambitious target. I am almost 70, the path is about 70 miles and I hope to complete this in 70 hours.

At least 35% of Eye Hospital patients are children who, if not helped by the age of seven, may lose much of their sight from conditions that would be automatically dealt with in the UK. Please help us help them. If we can raise this total we can help vital surgery & continue the mission of Saving Sight and Changing Lives.

*At time of writing the Team total raised is more than £42,000 including gift aid (towards an overall 2024 target of £60,670 to add the Steam Autoclave to the equipment already purchsed for the Eye Hospital).
