Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I am running my first marathon at the end of May 2019, in Edinburgh. I am doing so in memory of my darling wife and soul mate Carol who died from cancer in September 2018, aged just 56.
Carol was a truly beautiful person. She always put others first; her children, her family and her friends. She devoted a lifetime to serving patients in the NHS. Following diagnosis Carol became reliant on the compassion, professionalism and expertise of the Oncology and Palliative care teams who played such an important part in both her treatment and end of life care. Her death has been almost impossible to bear for both myself and our three children such is the integral part she played in all our lives and the love we felt for each other.
As a family we have resolved to help raise awareness and contribute towards cancer related charities. This is one of many running events we have collectively entered since Carols death but as my first marathon and my first race since we lost Carol it has particular poignancy. I feel compelled to run on behalf of Cancer Research UK such is the quality and importance of the work they help support and the relevance to both my family and to so many of my friends. Please help support their vital work.
This is for you my darling.
