The Little Princess Trust provides real hair wigs, free of charge, to children and young people who have lost their own hair through cancer treatment or to other conditions. The charity is also one of the largest funders of childhood cancer research in the UK.

Story

With this being the year I turned 40, I was already toying with the idea of growing up, getting a sensible haircut and donating my locks to the Little Princess Trust but felt somewhat reluctant - I've worn my hair long for 25 years, few of my friends have have known me with short hair and even some members of my family.

But the decision to cut was sealed  at the end of last year when a friend died only weeks after being diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer, and this year began with another loss.

The Trust's greatest demand is for hair donations of 16-inches or longer to make 12-inch long wigs, so rather than cut my hair immediately, I've spent the last year growing it out to meet this target and I've just over 17" of good hair, if I go for the full shave and polish.

So when Tier 4 lifts and the hairdresser has an available spot, it's happening! (Watch this space for updates)
