Roger Brooke was a  long time resident of Swarraton and died unexpectedly in December 2012.  

As Chairman of Swarraton and Northington Parish Council, he was involved in many local events and projects, contributing much time and effort to promote community activities.  

He was also involved in many charities as a Trustee as well as a substantial donor, in particular,  Pelican Cancer Foundation which focusses on research into pelvic and liver cancers and associated surgical techniques.   His input into prostate cancer research will have a major impact on how men with the disease are treated in the future.

The Memorial Cycle Ride on 19th May 2013 is designed to reflect Roger's focus on village activities, at the same time as raising money for one of Roger's favourite charities, Pelican Cancer Foundation.  He would be delighted with the combination of a local event, drawing villagers together in a common cause for his favourite charity.

Roger will be sorely missed.
