Story
I will be dressed up as one of my greatest living icons: Dr Ben Carson. http://www.achievement.org/autodoc/page/car1bio-1
Dr Carson is one of the most famous and respected doctors in the world. His surgeries to separate conjoined twins have made international headlines and his pioneering techniques have revolutionalised the field of neurosurgery. Almost as important is that Carson has become a role model for people of all ages, but especially children. He went from the inner-city streets of Detroit, Michigan, to the halls of Yale University, to director of paediatric neurosurgery at one of the most prestigious hospitals in the United States. In 2004, Carson was awarded the Healthcare Humanitarian Award because he has enhanced the quality of so many human lives and has influenced the course of history through ongoing contributions to healthcare and medicine. For me, Carson's story personifies the mission of the 100BMOL, leading the way in inspiring others to believe that anything in life is possible, regardless of what colour a person is or where he is from.
100BMOL has been running its community life-skills mentoring programme for the past 9 years without a penny in public funds. I have chosen the sum of 250 pounds as my fundraising target because this is the amount each member of the 100BMOL pays as membership dues each year. This is also the average cost for sponsoring two young people through the programme over a course of a year. So please donate generously - every little helps towards me reaching the target.Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity. So please dig deep and donate now.Thank youRoman.
