Story
On Sunday 2nd October 2022 I'll be running the London Marathon in memory of my beautiful little sister Kim, who we lost suddenly in October 2021. We miss her so much.
Anyone who knew Kim, knew how much she loved and cared for the ocean - and was loved and cared for by the ocean in return. Her whole life, we called her 'waterbaby', and through her beloved job as a diving instructor she dived in and met creatures from seas all over the world. I thought of her as a kind of porpoise - a 'lucky omen', who 'always lived before the wind'.
In Kim's honour and memory, then, I hope to raise funds for Marine Connection, a small charity dedicated to campaigning for the national and international welfare, protection, and conservation of cetaceans - that is, dolphins, whales and porpoises - in the context of climate crisis, commercial fishing, pollution, captivity, and loss of habitat.
