Story

The challengeI will be taking part in a team relay channel swim with 5 others. I will be wearing 1 x swim hat, 1 x standard swimming costume, 1 x pair of goggle and nothing else!

Where it all startedSwimming has been a big part of my life, however I managed to get back into regular swimming when all my kids were finally at school. I then had time to myself. Whilst teaching at Dorking Sports Centre, I noticed a group on women swimming and said what are you training for? They mentioned they were doing a Channel Swim which has been my all time goal! I couldnt resist joining the GirlsAlive Team for this challenge.

The Journey to get here - We have faced closed pools due to covid-19. Closed dedicated open water lakes. And travel restrictions preventing us from going for a sea swim!

Overcoming Challenges - I have swam through all weathers, rain, sleat, snow, gail force winds, and mahoooosive waves. The coldest water I have swam in is 2°C. I have had to break through ice and put by body to the limit every time. During every swim all I kept saying was "Its F*****G Cold". Thanks to the lovely Girls Alive Team who have kept me going.....and at times got me dressed.

Qualification! - On Sunday 6th June I qualified for the Channel Swim in 14°C Water!!!!!!
