Story
It is with heavy hearts that it was announced that Ronald John Baumber, better known as 'Ron', has passed away. Ron was a long time resident of Mississauga. Most of us knew him as the Owner and Operator of “Ron’s Taxi”. Ron passed away at the age of seventy-one on May 19, 2021 after a battle with COVID-19.
Ron was a passionate advocate for humane and dignified accessible
transportation in Peel Region. He worked tirelessly to provide the best
possible service and made many dear friends in the process. Ron was a valuable partner with the hospital care teams and discharge planning team when safely discharging patients home from the three sites here at Trillium Health Partners. He always went above and beyond for our patients. We always could count on Ron to answer the call and help out however he could. He always arrived to our hospitals with a smile on his face, for our team and for our patients. His “can-do” approach to his work was always appreciated. When a patient was discharged with Ron, you knew the patient was in compassionate and capable hands, on their way to returning safely home.
Ron was a father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend who will be missed dearly by all. Ron was also a singer-songwriter who produced a critically acclaimed album, “China Doll”. He was awarded many awards for his ongoing work in the music industry, including a Juno.
Ron exemplified THP’s values of Compassion, Excellence and Courage. We want to pay tribute to who Ron was as a human being and an ally to THP by raising money in his honour. Ron often felt like another member of the healthcare team at Trillium Health Partners – he had a gentle and compassionate way about him with all our patients - we will miss him dearly.
In collaboration with the THP Foundation, we are hopeful to raise enough funds to dedicate a THP hospital space in Ron's honour and memory. Any donation gets us one step closer to remembering Ron in this special way.
Thank you.
