I am participating aiming to raise money for St Luke's Hospice, the
local hospice for Harrow and Brent, who care for people whose illnesses are no longer curable and enable them to achieve the best possible quality of life during the final stages of their illness. The care is provided for patients
through its in-patient unit, out-patient clinics and day care unit, as well as
in their own homes through their community and home care teams. Coming to terms with a serious illness can be difficult and distressing to the extent that everyone in the family, including friends, can be affected so the staff and volunteers provide a friendly and supportive environment in which everyone feels welcome.

The hospice relies on the generosity of the community: individuals, companies and organisations for over 75% of its funding and can only continue because of their support. In 2004 our family became forever indebted for the palliative care that the hospice provided for the rock of our family, a dearly-loved husband, father to four and grandfather to ten during his final days fighting cancer.

By participating in this event I am aiming to raise sponsorship and
endeavouring to contribute to the on-going phenomenal efforts of the hospice in order that the facility continues to remain available to as many people who could benefit from its expert care and facilities.
