Story
At four, my dad died from a brain tumour (glioblastoma). The disease has had a profound impact on my life and the life of my family. For that reason, I will be running the London Marathon to raise funding in order to support more research into this disease.
Brain tumours kill more children and adults under the age of 40 than any other cancer, yet historically just 1% of the national spend on cancer research has been allocated to this disease. It is critical, therefore, that we seriously increase funding for research into this disease.
The average survival time for a glioblastoma still remains devastatingly short. In the case of my dad in 1995, from diagnosis only 12 months. Today the statistics have not improved much, which is not good enough. By supporting my journey we have a clear-cut opportunity to change these statistics so that we can improve the outcomes for others who are being diagnosed.
I hope that with your help we can support all the courageous people fighting this disease.
I am saying #NoMore to #BrainTumours.
