Story

The challenge.

On May 15th, I will be competing in the largest trail run in the Southern Hemisphere, and the third largest in the world, ‘Ultra-Trail Australia 100’. UTA100 is a 100km trail race with just under 5,000 metres of elevation through the beautiful Blue Mountains. The total allowable time to complete the race is 28 hours but I’m aiming to cross the finish line between 16-18 hours.

I’ve been working with an incredible running coach here in Sydney, Greg Pearson, and document most of my training on my Instagram. Please check it out if it’s of interest @rorywarnockwellness

My why.

My passion is helping improve mental and physical health to enable people to live happier and healthier lives. Taking part in the UTA100 will not only test my physical ability but also my mental capacity. I know how important it is to set goals. For me, this challenge has given me purpose and direction and I hope it’ll help ignite a spark in a few of you to go out and do something great, because we all have the ability to do so!

Why Run For Heroes.

Run For Heroes is an incredible charity which was founded at the beginning of the Covid-19 global pandemic. They raised over £7m for the NHS by asking the nation the run 5k and donate £5. They’re a charity on a mission to get as many people active as possible while raising funds for health and wellbeing initiatives. Seems very fitting! I also like the idea of supporting smaller charities to ensure full transparency over where each donation goes.

Your support means a huge amount to me and will get me through the next 7 weeks as training starts to ramp up!
